WELCOME BACK TO THE HANGER DECK HANG OUT AND PART 5 OF THE 1/100 SCALE BUILD.

1/100 Scale Hanger Deck Part V Pit11-1-1

Welcome back after a long month of no new upgrades. In this section I will walk you through the stepping
stones for the ceiling construction to get us that much closer to a completed hanger deck. But first off we
will look at some changes to the base set up.

1/100 Scale Hanger Deck Part V Hd2

For starters, I have improved/ fixed the pit problem with a new construction of (you guessed it) computer parts.
These particular parts allow the pit to raise and lower as intended without the issue of weight problems from the valk.
Now moving along to the other additions......

1/100 Scale Hanger Deck Part V Hd1

Ok so in this picture you can see the newest additions as well as some replacements. First off I have re-installed the
hanger deck texture with the proper adhesive this time. You can also see that I have begun the build for the
ceiling installation (bright balsa wood structures)

Here you can get a better view of the pit modification as well as the "dry fit" of the ceiling structure.
In the fallowing pictures you can see the process of the ceiling construction, layer by layer.

Here is the basic layout

In this picture you can see the addition of the overhead trusses, light fixtures (15 locations for bright white LEDs)
and the beginning of the multiple layers of piping consisting of wooden dowels, and plastic tabs from model kits
(not to mention the moved cooling vent again)

Here you can see the addition of more piping as well as 2 bracket areas
(dvd/cd drive bay covers from the computer for visual interest only)

1/100 Scale Hanger Deck Part V Hd7

Here you can see the application of primer to the first layer as well as a "dry fit" for the catwalk assembly.

1/100 Scale Hanger Deck Part V Hd8

Here you see the first coat of paint to the first few layers of piping. colors used where Rust for the main
pipe assemblies, black for the secondary pipes, and silver for the third series.
Now we will take a break from the ceiling construction and focus on the catwalk assembly...

1/100 Scale Hanger Deck Part V Hd10

Ok so in this picture you can see that I have already constructed the catwalk assembly and have
applied the primer coat as well. The next few pictures will be of the paint process for the catwalk.

1/100 Scale Hanger Deck Part V Hd11

Here you can see the application of a silver base coat with a black wash to bring out the texture
of the catwalk flooring. (I give thanks to Viper for giving me this as well as the fallowing color ideas)

1/100 Scale Hanger Deck Part V Hd12

Here you can see the famous "safety yellow" as found in many Industrial/Military facilities. Also note
that a base coat of black was applied to the area without railing.

1/100 Scale Hanger Deck Part V Hd13

Here you can see the finished version of the catwalk assembly with painted black/yellow hazard lines
for what will be a loading/unloading and/or mechanical assembly/repair area.

And finally, here is a picture (inverted lol) of the ceiling structure with the finished catwalk assembly.
This concludes part 5 of the 1/100 scale hanger deck build.

damn blue! That's awesome..... you really do put a lot of time and dedication to this project and that's something I truly admire Grin

I find it even more awesome that you've made all this using household objects, that's what's most impressive to me.

Ah yes the fond memories of the life on board an aircraft carrier lol I sometimes miss them too LVS lol.
